The reality is that pools use a lot of water, okay, you knew that. Sometimes we don’t realize just how much water and time we are wasting by not using a more efficient filtration system. Did you know that many pools are fitted with sand or DE filters that require backwashing to clean them, and that backwashing a filter can use 240 to 400 gallons of water every time you have to clean? So how can we remedy this?
Even when your pool isn’t in use, you should see to it that it’s still properly maintained and ensure that you don’t neglect the obligation of maintaining the pool water cartridge filter clean at all times. The pool filters has to maintain working to ensure that the water is safe and healthy. This equipment is a total necessity for pool owners to have to guarantee clean pool water that is suit for every member of the family to use.
Shock treatments kill algae and bacteria. They are recommended on a weekly basis. Additional treatments should be given if the water appears hazy, algae begins to grow, you smell unpleasant odors, or after unusually heavy rain. Green algae float in the water or cling to the sides. Yellow algae can usually be found on shady walls of a pool. Dark blue-green to black algae form very sticky 1 inch spots on pool surfaces.
Adjusting the pH level is possible, through the addition of either acidic or alkaline compounds. Acidic water can be neutralized by addition of sodium carbonate. High pH liquid can be corrected by the addition of muriatic acid. Do not add large amounts of acid or alkaline at once. Instead, do the correction gradually, by adding small amounts of chemical each time, and then testing the liquid after.
The filter media plays a vital role in maintaining the clarity of water. Replace the filter media if it has been used for a long period. Manual cleaning should be done in the case of D.E. filters. Change the cartridges in case if it is a China Filter Cartridge. Some may use sand filter where the sand can be replaced or it may require backwashing. I do go into more detail on how to do this in my newsletter.
The BBB will also tell you how many complaints a builder has had. You don’t necessarily have rule out a company because they have had a few complaints. Anyone who has been in business for awhile, in any field of construction, is bound to have some complaints. The BBB will let you know how many of those complaints were resolved. Unresolved complaints should serve as a red flag. If you are considering a builder with some complaints, ask them about the complaints. Find out how they were resolved and see if you can get the contact information of the customers. A pool build is kind of like a wedding. They rarely go off without a hitch. The biggest difference between a good builder and a poor one is how they deal with their mistakes.
Next, figure the capacity of your pool. This will allow you to calculate how much water your swimming pool holds. This is an important factor in purchasing a pool filter. To find the capacity, multiply the volume (you found in step one) by 7.48.
